Plastic Labs, an international semiconductor company, reinvented their downtown Austin headquarters to advertise connectivity and collaboration across two structures at 200 and 400 West Cesar Chavez Street. From a 100% closed office atmosphere, Gensler led stakeholders through studying various open-to-closed workspace ratios and just how this affected growth, workflow, and efficiency.
To spark worker interactions, each degree of your building includes a specific destination point connected with a central floating steel staircase. Core amenity and collaboration spaces were redesigned with crisp, clean finishes layered with warm tones and textures expressing the Plastic Labs brand: tech-driven, yet human-centered. Bold furniture colors produced cozy seating zones having a nod to Austin’s laid-back vibe.
Thoughtful interventions towards the base building were created with balconies around the second and third levels, adding an outside reference to city and lake views. Just like Plastic Labs technology connects people, their headquarters fosters connectivity, inwardly and outwardly.
