Today’s innovative pharmaceuticals represent a contemporary-day miracle, caused by tremendous private and public purchase of research, development, validation of safety and effectiveness, and education of patients, healthcare providers, and payers. Innovative drugs took with an more and more important – many would argue indispensable – role in healthcare. Using the world’s growing reliance upon the fruits of pharmaceutical R&D, problems with access and price have started to the forefront in the present healthcare policy debate. This conference brings together loudspeakers from over the U.S., Europe, and Asia to confront the multifaceted variety of problems and possibilities within the worldwide effort to maximise use of innovative drugs at a price that appropriately reflects the tough balance between retaining sufficient incentives for more innovation yet still time allowing use of patient populations with finite abilities to pay for.

The conference will approach the issue from a number of aspects, with loudspeakers from academia addressing pertinent issues in the perspectives of law, science, business, and financial aspects, in addition to non-academic loudspeakers in the private and public sectors and also the judiciary. The worldwide nature from the speaker selection will facilitate an exchange of views that sees that the character from the problem and also the appropriate policy response varies around the world, and offers a forum for any mix-fertilization of ideas across worldwide borders meant to facilitate practical methods to a significant challenge facing both current and generations to come.
